John Olley takes his inspiration from landscape and buildings using
adapted Japanese techniques to print both black and white and colour
lino-cuts. They are printed on a Hopkinson and Cope handpress made and used more than 100 years ago less than a mile from its present
location in Islington. The variation in the hand process,
particularly in the coloured prints, renders each print unique.
Subjects are drawn from his sketch books which include both foreign travel and local urban scenes."
